wedding planning tips!

Planning for your Engagement Session!

  • What to Wear? Some considerations...

    • Weather - check out the historical average temperatures for our schedule time to wear something that is going to be seasonally appropriate and comfortable!

    • Treat Yourself - wear something you will feel amazing (and comfortable) in! Get your hair and makeup done for fun if you'd like! Choose your outfit first, and then find something for your fiancé! Also consider the session location and try to coordinate your outfits to be appropriate with that particular backdrop. For example, if we're meeting in a field with a mountain view, along a waterfront, or more rustic/woodsy, wear something that will play off of the backdrop - perhaps a nice flowy dress and jeans for the gentleman! Compared to an urban setting, where you could probably get away with getting a little more fancy, heels perhaps? Tie for your guy?

    • Coordinate & Compliment - Consider tones that will compliment your skin and hair coloring and choose outfits that coordinate with one another!

  • Seek Inspiration - Always feel free to do a Google search to find inspiration for location ideas (here is my list of favorite spots). For example, a good search could be "Pike Place Market Engagement Session" and click on the images tab. That will give you a good idea of what your session might look like in that particular location. Same goes for outfits and poses! Here is my Pinterest page for your reference, but should you find anything in your searches that really speaks to you, please feel free to send it along and we can recreate the look during our session!

  • Make it Personal and Fun - Incorporate things that are unique to you and your fiancé! Do you want to include things like favorite team jerseys, few photos at an ice cream/coffee/donut shop nearby, books, balloons, cruiser bikes, photos of you both as babies/kids around the same age, a banner/sign with your wedding date, or "save the date," confetti to blow, umbrellas (we do live in the PNW!), champagne pop and toast? Fun ideas are endless and I'm always open to mixing it up and incorporating anything that is unique to you both! A quick search for "engagement session props" on Pinterest will give you other awesome ideas!

  • Please bring a blanket! No matter where we meet, a blanket will always come in handy, and even better if the blanket coordinates with your outfits!

Planning for your Wedding Day!

I will do everything in my power to ensure your wedding day runs as smoothly and seamlessly as possible...

but I need your help to set it up for success!

  • Day-Of Schedule - Here is a Google Document wedding day schedule template I created to include a list of common "must have" photos, and an estimate for the amount of time to capture the photos, with a corresponding editable timeline. This is a great starting point for you to add and omit photos you want and then we can work together to pin down an appropriate timeline for your day! Giving copies of your wedding day timelines to me, your coordinator (if you have one), groom, etc. will allow you to relax on your big day, knowing that everyone has a detailed map to guide them through the day!

  • Envision Your Look - I highly recommend creating a style board! As you put together the pieces of your wedding day (e.g., dress, bridesmaids dresses, bouquets, centerpieces, etc.) you can use customizable style board using sites like Polyvore to envision what your day will look like!

  • Have Fun & Be Present! - Similar to your engagement session, anything fun you want to incorporate into your day is great with me! When I'm not taking formal portraits or wedding details, please trust that I am looking for those timeless candid moments for you to remember forever! The day is going to fly by, I will remind to you to take a quiet moment with your Groom to soak it all in!

Cheers!
